Welcome to the Six3six Studios
Game Development Blogs
Welcome to Six3six's Home Page. Among all the features we offer, we are most proud of publishing frequent advice for all the aspiring game developers out there. There isn't a standard playbook out there on getting your game development studio up and running but we hope our tips can steer you in the right direction and not off a cliff into sheer oblivion.
Project Page
Aside from blogging awesome tips for game development, we will plug our latest project “Codename: Trenches” quite often. This project is definitely our pride and joy and should be amongst your collection as soon as it debuts. This game is our labor of love and we've pulled inspiration from all of our favorites and combined it with a story that will break a new genre onto the gaming scene. Check back often so you don't miss out on screenshots, trailers and further press releases. And by “check back often” we mean “six months from now”, because that's how long it takes for a certain Chief Creative Officer to get around to doing things. We'll continue to bad mouth him to expedite this in the meantime.
Game Reviews and Previews
In a further attempt to gather more market share on this interwebs thingy, we also plan on posting game previews and reviews about all the latest big titles coming up this Holiday Season. However, instead of merely summing up the game like most any other game review site, our reviews will kick it up a notch by incorporating a developer's critique on the game. What we thought worked, what could have been changed and other technical aspects that will most likely fly over the heads of most except for the exceptional few of the highest rungs of the nerd hierarchy.
Company News
Although we just met, we feel as though you care about us and want to learn more. Who wouldn't? Well just nod your head so we won't feel dejected. Everything we've been up to will be posted weekly or whenever we get around to it. We're busy after all trying to deliver a game that will blow your mind out the back of your skull and that shit doesn't happen without some serious effort.
Developer Blogs
Thankfully we have a place on this site to rant and rave about whatever is pissing us off that moment. Enter the Developer's Blog section. We'll write about anything or anyone in this section so be sure to keep on this page for some surefire hilarity and inside jokes and/or insults that you could only hope to understand.
Merch Booth
At the end of the day, we hope you take something home from this site. Ideally for us, it'll be one of our bitching clothing ensembles from our Merch Booth. Don't blame us for trying to make a buck so we can keep the lights on AND eat at the same time. We dare to dream after all...
So do us a solid, bookmark this page, subscribe to one or all of our blogs and spread the word that Saint Louis has a new game development studio for the common man...who also enjoys playing video games obviously.

Reinventing the Wheel with Rocket Propulsion - Brainstorming Great Ideas for Your Ideal Game
Want to make a game but don't really know where to start? Well we can help you out with that. All you really need to ask yourself can be boiled down to two questions, what world would you like to escape to and would other people want to go there too? After all, why do you game? Chances are that you need to blow off some steam and put your head in a different world than the real one.
So where would you like to escape to when you play a game? The trick is to find an environment that has that fantasy/whimsical feeling with perhaps some grounding in the real world, but not too much. Whatever genres you currently like are great starting points for your game. If you like playing shooters ñ and honestly, who doesn't? - then you should start from there. After all, if you don't want to play your game, then who will?
Alternative history stories are a particular favorite of mine. For example, in Fallout 3 you wander post-Apocalyptic America after a fictional (or maybe prophetic?) nuclear war with China. It takes one of the all time intriguing questions of ìwhat ifî as an approach to building a great game and so should you. That question alone can give you some very intriguing scenarios that can be great fodder for your next game.
If you wanted to take away just one thing from this article, then let it be the guiding light of always asking ìwhat ifî when you're developing the ideas of your game. Remember that if you wouldn't want to play your game, then you would probably not be all that enthusiastic in developing it. It's going to take a lot of time to develop your game so be sure that it's a game you would love to escape into for awhile.
